Aotearoa/New Zealand

Catherine is working here as a McTimoney Holistic and CranioSacral Therapist. There are currently eight other qualified McTimoney Therapists practising in this country to my knowledge. They work in Tauranga, Whakatane, Auckland, Christchurch, Hawkes Bay, Taranaki and Wellington. Catherine set up in Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula in February 2004.  She added CranioSacral to her modalities in 2014 and Trauma Buster Technique in 2017.

The McTimoney Treatment

John McTimoney developed  this relatively gentle technique in the 1950s.  It is very effective in aligning the whole skeletal structure and so restoring nerve function and good health. Patients present with a variety of conditions ranging from back and neck pain, shoulder pain, elbow, knee and other peripheral joints hurting, headaches, injuries from road traffic accidents or sporting events and many other conditions such as nausea and menstrual pain.

The whole body treatment is gentle enough that the age range of Catherine's patients has been from three weeks to ninety two years. The technique is very easily adapted to the type and condition of the body being treated and is suitable for pregnant women too.

X-rays are not used as McTimoney  practitioners are highly trained in the use of their hands to palpate the skeletal structure. If the practitioner feels that there may be an underlying condition requiring X-ray, MRI or other investigation, then they will refer patients to the appropriate professional.

CranioSacral Therapy

By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CranioSacral Therapy  is increasing used as both a preventative health measure and a restorative treatment for a wide range of medical problems not just for babies and headaches.  Restrictions to the flow of cerebrospinal fluid are released gently as well as pressure on cranial nerves and sutures. Dr John Upledger designed and taught this gentle and effective technique and it is practised around the world.

Trauma Buster Technique

This is an extension of Emotional Freedom Technique and a powerful method for eliminating the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress.  The Trauma Buster Technique is very effective at neutralising the effects of physical, mental and emotional traumas, regardless of how long-standing, ongoing or complex they are.
